Filson was founded in 1897 in Seattle, Washington as an "outdoor clothing manufacturer" to tackle the Gold Rush. The company began producing clothing made from the finest natural materials and with uncompromising design and sewing, to be used in the harshest environments for clothing, such as gold mining. Before long, the Filson mark became synonymous with trust for men working in Alaska and the Northwest.
When it comes to wool, it is still a stubborn process that takes more than two years from harvesting the raw wool to finishing the product, and because of this stubbornness, it continues to be loved by people who require true quality in harsh natural environments, such as forest rangers, lumberjacks, hunters, and adventurers, and is also used for some of the staff of the U.S. Air Force and Army.
