Janis Joplin, the legendary diva who typified female rock singers of the 1970s, was born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 19, 1943. Although she had a comfortable childhood in a middle-class family, she somehow tended to feel isolated at school, and discovered drugs and alcohol early on, becoming obsessed with music that was different from that of her classmates, such as Bessie Smith and Odetta.

He formed a duo with Jorma Kokonen, who would later form Jefferson Airplane, and performed at the Monterey Pop Festival.

As a backing singer for Big Brother & The Holding Company, she released her first album, "First Recording," Big Brother and The Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin, on the Monument label. Her shocking performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 drew acclaim, and she signed her first major label contract with Columbia Records.

Janis formed a new band called Full Tilt Boogie, and the recording went well. When three-quarters of the album was completed, Janis suddenly passed away. She was 27 years old. She was a heroin addict.
