(HOTEL)
Film plays an important role in the designer's design process.
For this series called "Hotel" I was inspired by some of my favorite movies: The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Shining, and Eyes Wide Shut.
These films all feature very interesting decorative interiors and beautifully composed scenes.

Additionally, we were inspired by the lives of the artists who lived in the hotel.
The legendary HOTEL CHELSEA is famously home to many artists including Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. We felt we could create our own unique hotel by incorporating interesting elements such as locks, "keep out" signs, a signed guest log and architectural drawings of the hotel structure.

The fictional hotel's name, St. Denis, comes from the building where we first had our studio, a great Los Angeles landmark built in the 1930s . The group features hotel-themed embroidery featuring characters and objects found in the St. Denis Hotel.
