Samuel Zelig
2019 BRAND START
It was started by two designers: the son of the founder of American denim brand True Religion, and his grandfather a famous American artist.
Later, the latter left the group, and a friend from his fashion school days, who was working as a designer at Ralph Lauren, joined the brand, where he remains to this day.
Samuel Zelig is inspired by American sportswear and workwear from the 1930s to 1950s, and is committed to redefining the meaning of workwear for a modern audience by faithfully following the traditions and details found in the clothing of that time while designing using modern sewing and dyeing techniques.
The two designers, who have a deep knowledge of vintage clothing, envision a "Dream Vintage" (a dream-like vintage piece that does not exist, but would be worth immeasurable if it did), and design items based on that vision.
All designs, from patchwork to embroidery, are original by the designer. He pays homage to various elements of old America, such as culture and art, and creates illustrations that add his own unique interpretation.
25SS 2nd Delivery lookbook

The 2nd delivery has arrived.
This is the final delivery of the 25SS.
This time, we will introduce two themes.
・CIRCUS
・YEARBOOK

CIRCUS
When designing the theme "CIRCUS", we wanted to create a colorful and striking style.
Inspired by circus photography and icons from the 19th and 20th centuries, the collection was created using references such as posters, ticket stubs, wagons and vintage costumes.
Each piece features signatures, vibrant patches and a variety of styles of distinctive running stitch embroidery, with the goal of creating products that look as if they were customised by members of the circus themselves.

YEARBOOK
For the 25SS season, we wanted to incorporate a more natural color palette, so we asked ourselves, "What vintage items naturally have these colors?" We found the VINTAGE REUNION JACKET, BEER JACKET, and memorial jacket and pants. These are characterized by the use of pale-toned fabrics and are decorated with vivid signatures and academic motifs.
Furthermore, because these items are extremely rare in the vintage market, SZ has reinterpreted these styles from his own unique perspective and created new pieces.
During the research phase, we looked through numerous yearbooks from the 1930s to 1950s for elements that would bring the style of the era to life: they were filled with playful doodles, inside jokes, and collaged photos. Drawing on our own high school experiences, we designed an original mascot and crest, as well as creating a detailed yearbook signature page as an iconic element for the group.
Please see the product page for product details.
This time, we have mainly stocked the yearbook series.
While it has a vintage feel, the design is one step ahead as seen through Samuel's lens and I think it will appeal to many people.
I think you'll be able to appreciate its quality better if you actually try it on in our store.
We look forward to your visit.
Thank you for watching.
