The two met at a topless club run by Tommy Chong's family in Vancouver, Canada. They later formed the rock band "City Lights", but soon disbanded and moved to Hollywood as Cheech & Chong. They gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with movies and music themed around marijuana and hippies.
