Reduction Factory's beckoning cat.
The beckoning cat has long been a popular clay doll.
Although it is a common motif, I was drawn to the fact that it is an object that embodies only "good meanings," and so I deliberately chose to finish this piece at a high temperature. There are various theories about its origin, but I modeled it after the Marujime cat of the Edo period, and created an appearance that exudes simplicity and strength. I hope that you will enjoy it casually in your daily life as a lucky item for your home.
In order to ensure that the glaze is applied thoroughly to the back of the piece, three claws (clay supports) are used during firing. As a result, there may be firing marks on the back, but please understand that this is a characteristic of the production process.
The details make use of the natural texture of the clay, and due to the nature of ceramic products, there may be slight individual differences in size, texture, and color. Also, there may be variations in the shading and color unevenness of the pattern. Please understand that each piece is unique.

This is a ceramics brand from Tohoku that was launched in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture in 2016 by ceramic designer Kuntaro Abe and moved its base to Iwate Prefecture in 2024.
This is a self-made brand that was started with the idea that by directly experiencing material selection, techniques, mixing, firing, etc., I would be able to further deepen my knowledge as a ceramic designer.
Based on the idea of "100 things that will enrich the lives of 100 people," the brand strives to make its products as affordable and easy to purchase as possible, and while they are reproducible products, they are decorated in a way that allows individual variations so that buyers can choose from them.
