CONKERS 26AW
It’s been a while since my last blog post.
This time, I’d like to introduce a new brand for the 26AW season: "CONKERS."
This brand is available at only a very limited number of stores in Japan.
We just started carrying them this season, and despite having only just arrived in-store, I’ve been surprised by the high level of interest and positive reaction, with many customers already familiar with the brand or visiting specifically to see it.
First, let me introduce the brand.
【CONKERS / UK】
Founded in London, UK, in 2021.
Inspired by a slower pace of life, Conkers creates garments that express the essence of the British countryside.
Their design philosophy has always centered on the concept of "local"—a "village-like" spirit.
Getting to know your neighbors, supporting local makers, and working closely with those around you.
We create clothes that feel like a natural extension of our surroundings.
We favor natural and organic materials, and we always pay respect to British craftspeople, makers, and historic textile mills.
Its beauty lies in the product's provenance, attention to detail, and ultimately, harmony with Mother Nature.
AW 2026-2027 "LOCAL"
This season's theme, "LOCAL," refers to "YOUR LOCAL PUB"—a social hub where local people gather.
Additionally, this season focuses on sourcing materials and production as locally as possible (ENGLAND).
Inspired by the relaxed lifestyle of the British countryside, the clothing captures the essence of the rural British landscape.
CONKERS' timeless pieces, which they call "organic indulgence," are items with an appeal that connects to a future that is an extension of the environment around us.
We always pay tribute to British craftsmen and textile mills.
Beauty lies in its origins, attention to detail, and harmony with nature.
All products are MADE IN ENGLAND. For this arrival, the jackets and pants feature fabrics from the prestigious UK cotton manufacturer Brisbane Moss, while the linen pieces use fabrics from Emblem Weavers. We have carefully curated items that align with this season's theme.
Let’s start with the setup.
BRUTON BLAZER (DARK BROWN)
SCOTS PANTS (DARK BROWN)
This setup uses fabric from the prestigious British fabric maker "Brisbane Moss."
First, the texture of the fabric. It uses a thick cotton twill known as "heavy peach twill."
Literally, it has a fine fuzz, like stroking the surface of a peach, and is characterized by a smooth, clinging touch.
Brisbane Moss is a historic British manufacturer of tough cotton materials such as corduroy and moleskin.
While it possesses a thick, substantial reliability, it is also supple and soft. It doesn't have the stiffness or weight that you often feel with new work jackets.
The jacket features a cropped silhouette with a clean, short length while maintaining room in the body and arms.
Because there is extra room, you can layer knitwear or sweatshirts underneath. If you wrap a scarf around your neck, it could even serve as outerwear right up until deep winter.
The buttons are made of corozo nuts from the Cotswolds in the UK.
The pants are a wide-straight cut.
Although they are wide, they don't look overly exaggerated.
This silhouette pairs perfectly with the aesthetic of the classic jacket.
The beautiful drape, possible only because of the thick fabric, is also a charm.
A pullover shirt using deadstock fabric.
The cotton herringbone is thick and high-density. Hard-washing this fabric gives it a unique, smooth drape. In the store, many people mistake it for linen.
The brand describes this as a relaxed fit, but it wasn't overly large, so we brought them in sizes L and XL.
Pleats on the cuffs and yoke provide a just-right sense of ease.
Like the jacket, this also uses corozo buttons.
RELAXED FARMER SHIRT (SUNRISE)
This is a check shirt also using fabric from the prestigious British linen manufacturer "EMBLEM WEAVERS."
When people hear "linen," many might think of the thin, lightweight fabrics typical of spring and summer.
However, linen, which has been rooted in European life for a long time, is a very tough material that gains texture the more you use it.
The linen fabric, called "Irish Dishcloth Weave Linen," is inspired by vintage dishcloths, as the name suggests.
It’s thick with a substantial feel and the deep luster unique to Irish linen.
Furthermore, the finished fabric undergoes a hard wash. This causes the surface of the fabric to ripple pleasantly, further accentuating the crisp, dry touch inherent to linen.
Because the fibers are extremely fine, it lacks the typical itchiness of linen and can be worn comfortably even over a short-sleeved shirt.
With a relaxed fit featuring generous shoulder and body width and a clean length, it can be worn as a shirt-jacket with knitwear underneath, or with a jacket or coat over it. The coloring is helpful for autumn and winter, which tend to be dark.
There was another color, but it SOLD OUT shortly after arrival. I recommend acting quickly on this one.
MARTYN SHIRT (BROWN BLACK)
This is also a shirt-jacket using linen, utilizing the same "Irish Dishcloth Weave Linen" as the check shirt above.
Its characteristic lies in the depth of its exquisite hues.
Rather than dyeing it in a single flat color, it uses a fabric woven from two different pre-dyed yarns (yarn-dyed).
"Brown × Black" and "Grey × Black."
As different tones of yarn are delicately blended within the fabric, its appearance changes depending on the light and the movement of the fabric, creating deep shadows.
The silhouette is a relaxed fit that makes the most of the fabric's characteristics, comfortably holding air.
For the collar and cuffs, they intentionally avoided visible topstitching and used "French seams" (enclosed seams) for construction. Since the inside is also cleanly sewn, it maintains a sophisticated impression even when you roughly roll up the sleeves.
Additionally, the large, substantial pockets on the front give it a sense of weight similar to a work jacket.
The buttons are shell buttons. The luster unique to shells balances out this jacket.
It can be worn year-round, regardless of the season: lightly draped over a T-shirt or tank top in spring and summer, or with knitwear or sweatshirts in autumn and winter.
Every item’s tag includes a serial number.
And a note is added that says, "not for city boy."
There are certainly no shortage of brands that use traditional British fabrics to reproduce the classic, robust fits of the past.
However, while paying respect to those traditional fabrics, Conkers has vividly sublimated them into a relaxed sizing and modern design that fits into contemporary daily life and captures the spirit of the present.
I don't think there are many brands that achieve both classical gravity and a contemporary presence.
And among them, I don't think any have the same aura as Conkers.
