[I am dork]
Yasushi Nakano of ANSNAM has created a new brand called "I am dork" with Takashi Okano of "For flowers of romance" as the designer, and Nakano is overseeing the production aspects such as patterns and materials. The collection was created with the image of skaters in the 90s in mind, and reinterprets the casual items worn by street boys at the time, such as those seen in Larry Clark's movie "KIDS," from the perspective of Okano, who was once a skater himself, and creates new values by raising them to the highest quality.
HIDDEN BUTTON SHIRTS / "VISCOSE"
We would like to introduce the 25SS I AM DORK.
This time it's a shirt. I'll introduce the pants later.
Let's start with the shape.
Judging from the name, it seems to be a hidden-front shirt, but the front is the same as a regular shirt.
Simply put, it is a button-down jacket, but the buttons are hidden under the collar and fastened with a loop.
Therefore, at first glance it looks like a regular collar shirt.
The size is large. Now, let's go back to the brand description above.
"The collection was created with the image of skaters from the 90s in mind, and features casual items worn by street kids at the time, such as those seen in Larry Clark's film 'Kids.'"
The oversized shirts by Ralph Lauren and Brooks, loved by skaters in the 90s, as seen in the movie KIDS, were the inspiration for the design.
The mid 90's might also be a good reference.
This shirt is designed in a big size.
This is where the ANSNAM element comes in. The fabric, stitching and details are in a class of their own.
The shirts are produced in selected factories, with stitching quality and collar style that are exactly the same as a high-quality dress shirt.
This nice gap may be the most attractive thing about this shirt.
Fabric: Lyria (ITALY)
There are two types of fabric available this time.
Both are from LYRIA, Italy.
Lilia is a fabric brand under the umbrella of CERRUTI, a long-established Italian men's brand.
The founder creates fabrics inspired by everything from people he has met while traveling around the world, to memories of people he has been involved with, to photos, etc. He places emphasis on natural fibers such as wool, linen, and cotton, and creates unique fabrics through combinations and weaving techniques that surprise other textile manufacturers.
COLOR CHECK / ¥60,500
The fabric is viscose, a type of rayon, the oldest natural synthetic fiber.
It is also often used as a substitute for silk in suits and dresses.
It also has good slip resistance, so you can wear it over a sweatshirt or hoodie.
Also, the cool feel on the skin is nice in the summer.
The blue check is especially striking among Lilia designs.
The drapey fabric and pattern are combined beautifully to create a look that is different from other checks.
It has a coarse check pattern, so it's great for anyone.
I'd like to wear wide pants with an old T-shirt underneath in the summer.
BROWN UNEVENNESS/ ¥60,500
This is also 100% viscose.
It is dyed using a method called COLD DYE, which gives it an uneven brown-orange color.
COLD DYE is dyeing at low temperatures, which means the dye does not come out completely and there will be unevenness.
Furthermore, all of the dyeing is done at the fabric stage, and the final dyeing result will vary depending on the environment at the time.
Since it is a shirt, there are not many parts, but each part is made from a combination of fabrics that are dyed differently.
The sheen of the fabric, which is not found in check patterns, gives it a modern and lustrous impression.
I would like to wear it in a casual style, pairing it with black, thick indigo denim, or chinos in a similar color.
Compared to shirts from typical domestic brands, this is a more luxurious shirt and is made from a special fabric which may make it seem difficult to handle, but it's fine to just throw it on over your regular summer T-shirt styling.
Even if you get covered in sweat in the middle of summer, just wash it and hang it out to dry. That alone will give it a wrinkled look that cotton doesn't have. It shrinks quite a bit when washed, but when hung out to dry it stretches under its own weight and gives it a nice wrinkled look.
If you want to wear it without wrinkles, you can use a steam iron.
(Please note that the fabric does not have a washing label, so please wash at your own risk.)
This versatile shirt combines a modern fabric with an American casual pattern, allowing you to enjoy both of my favorite elements in just the right balance.
Personally, I own three shirts in different patterns, but because it's so versatile, I always want another one.
Thankfully, there is only one of each pattern and size left.
Please try it at the store.
thank you.
